Clinical weight-loss program

Weight loss with clinical judgment.

A 12-month plan to lose fat and preserve muscle mass, with medical follow-up, nutrition, exercise prescription and GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP agonists when indicated.

57%

of Portuguese adults live with overweight or obesity.* Understanding the clinical causes of each case is what makes a plan truly effective.

* National Health Survey (INS)

The program

A clinical plan built on 4 pillars.

The goal is to create a safe, sustainable strategy adapted to each woman's body, life stage and context.

  1. 01

    Understand

Initial medical consultation, clinical history, life stage and body composition.

  2. 02

    Define

Choice of pathway with or without GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP agonists, always by medical indication.

  3. 03

    Measure

DXA, InBody380 and effort monitoring document progress, response and lean-mass preservation.

  4. 04

    Adjust

Program structured in 3 phases across 12 months with adjustments to progress and goals at each phase.

What the evidence shows

Clinically significant — and sustained — weight loss.

In phase-3 studies with GLP-1 and GLP-1/GIP agonists, average weight loss at around 72 weeks ranges from 15.4% to 21.6% of starting weight. For the first time, weight-loss pharmacotherapy shows evidence comparable to bariatric surgery results.

up to22%of body weight

For a 85 kg woman, this means reaching 66 kg. Beyond aesthetics, it's reversing pre-diabetes, restoring fertility, reducing cardiovascular risk and significantly improving quality of life.

Average results from GLP-1 and GLP-1/GIP agonist clinical trials (SURMOUNT-5 study). Eligibility and individual response are assessed in medical consultation. The pathway without pharmacotherapy targets a 5–10% sustained weight loss through a healthy lifestyle, with focus on nutrition and physical exercise.

Hold what you've gained

It's not just losing. It's not regaining.

Lean mass is what protects against the yo-yo effect. That's why the program includes prescribed exercise in all phases — even during maintenance and medication tapering.

Beyond weight

Cardiometabolic health

Reduced blood pressure, improved lipid profile and insulin sensitivity. Improved fatty-liver markers. Improved metabolic and hormonal markers in women with PCOS.

Women's health

Fertility, menopause, postpartum

A 5–10% weight loss can improve ovulatory function in PCOS, ease menopause symptoms and support postpartum recovery without compromising breastfeeding.

Who it's for

For the woman who recognizes weight as a clinical issue.

WeightLoss+ is suitable for women with overweight, obesity, body-recomposition goals, or metabolic and hormonal changes that influence weight. Especially appropriate when previous attempts have made results hard to achieve or maintain.

How the program works

Three phases, with assessment at each stage.

Over 12 months, the plan evolves according to clinical results, body composition and response to follow-up. The monthly fee tracks the intensity of each phase.

With or without GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP agonists

Two pathways. The same program.

The program phases are common to both. When there is medical indication for GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP agonists, the follow-up is reinforced with prescription, dose adjustment and nursing support.

Pathway A

Without GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP agonists

For women advancing without medication, by preference or absence of medical indication. Built on the full WeightLoss+ clinical base: medical follow-up by Family Medicine / Lifestyle Medicine, body composition assessment by DXA and InBody380, nutrition plan, exercise prescription with monitoring and access to the Culinary Medicine workshop — Cozinha360.

Full WeightLoss+ clinical base No pharmacological therapy

Pathway B

With GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP agonists

For women with medical indication for pharmacological therapy. Includes everything in Pathway A, plus medication prescription, dose adjustment, nursing support and clinical response monitoring.

Full WeightLoss+ clinical base Reinforced GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP follow-up
Medical indication

Eligibility for GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP agonists is assessed in consultation, based on metabolic profile, BMI, clinical history and individual safety. Not every woman has indication — that's why the clinical assessment always comes first.

Clinical context

GLP-1 and GIP are hormones involved in appetite and metabolism regulation. Therapies acting on these pathways can support weight loss in eligible people, but do not replace nutrition, prescribed exercise and medical follow-up.

Clinical follow-up

Body composition tools

Measure fat, muscle and response to the plan.

DXA, InBody380 and Myzone help distinguish total weight, fat, lean mass and effort response, enabling clinical decisions to be adjusted across phases.

01 Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry

DXA

Whole-body scan that measures fat mass, lean mass and bone mineral density, including estimates of abdominal fat, documenting progress beyond total weight.

3 scans included Included at all three phases. Allows body composition to be tracked throughout the program, independently of total weight.
02 Progress at each review

InBody380

Segmental bioimpedance that tracks muscle mass, body water and distribution, helping understand how the body responds to the plan.

At review consultations Performed across 12 months to track progress.
03 Effort response

Myzone MZ-Switch

A heart-rate monitoring band for exercise that records effort zones during training and makes it possible to assess whether the prescribed intensity matches the body's actual response.

Data to adjust training Reviewed by the Exercise Physiologist at each program phase.

Exercise Prescription

Training prescribed to lose fat and preserve lean mass.

Exercise prescription is defined and reviewed by the Exercise Physiologist based on goals, body composition, physical fitness, program phase and Myzone data. The plan combines individual sessions, effort monitoring and access to the Healthy Life platform to maintain exercise adherence between appointments.

Frequently asked

The most common questions.

Is medication mandatory?

No. Pathway A is built on nutrition, prescribed exercise and medical follow-up — without any medication. Medication is a clinical option, never an imposition. The decision is made together with the physician at the assessment consultation, based on individual clinical profile.

What does the assessment consultation include?

The assessment consultation includes a full clinical evaluation with the physician — metabolic and lifestyle profile — InBody380 body composition assessment and prescription of laboratory tests. DXA is performed at the start of the program (Phase 1), together with the lab tests, and is included in the monthly fee.

When do results start to show?

The answer always depends on the person, chosen pathway and life stage. There is no universal timeline — the team documents progress with DXA, InBody380 and clinical follow-up at each phase.

In Pathway B (with GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP agonists), the clinical literature shows clinically significant weight loss from the first weeks of treatment, with sustained progression across the first 12 to 18 months (STEP and SURMOUNT studies). Eligibility and individual response are always assessed in medical consultation.

Am I required to complete all three phases?

There is no yearly commitment. Engagement is phase by phase. At the end of each phase, the team performs a clinical review and decides together with the patient on progression to the next — always based on measurable results.

Is medication included in the monthly fee?

No. GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP agonists are purchased at the pharmacy with medical prescription. The Pathway B monthly fee covers the clinical follow-up of the therapy — not the medication itself.

Are consultations reimbursable by health insurance?

Each consultation is billed independently by Clínica Mulher. Reimbursement eligibility depends on each policy's conditions.

What is a DXA scan and why is it included?

DXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) is a whole-body scan that assesses body composition — fat mass, lean mass and bone mineral density — including estimates of abdominal fat. Unlike a scale or bioimpedance, it shows exactly what is changing: whether you are losing fat or muscle mass, and where. In WeightLoss+, it is performed at the start, at 6 months and at the end of the program, allowing the clinical team to adjust the plan based on the actual evolution of body composition.

The starting point

The initial consultation is there to understand whether now is the right time.

01

You've tried to lose weight, but results don't hold.

02

You feel metabolic, hormonal or sleep changes.

03

You want to know whether it makes sense to proceed with or without GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP agonists.
